BOWLING GREEN CANCER MEMORIAL PARK MOVING FORWARD WITH NEW HOME

BOWLING GREEN, MO. — Plans are moving forward for the relocation of Cancer Memorial Park in Bowling Green after organizers confirmed the foundation now owns property at 16 South Court Street.

The Cancer Memorial Park board says the City of Bowling Green notified them on July 14 that the quit claim deed had been signed and recorded, officially transferring the property and allowing the project to move into its next phase.

Organizers are now focused on getting professional blueprints completed before construction begins. The board has created a portfolio for potential landscape architects that includes a preliminary drawing of the new park, photos of the current and future park locations, a property survey and a list of project requirements.

That information has already been sent to two potential architects, and the board is also asking the community for additional recommendations.

Once blueprints are completed, organizers say they will be able to develop construction cost estimates, begin fundraising efforts and start seeking contractors for the project.

The board has also added two new members, Julie Henry and Barb Goetz, who will help with the relocation effort.

Organizers are reassuring families that every memorial previously purchased for Cancer Memorial Park will also be included in the new location.

Additional updates, including pictures of the final plans and blueprints, are expected to be released as the project moves forward.
