CALHOUN COUNTY — Daytime lane closures will begin Monday, May 4 on the Joe Page Bridge carrying Illinois 100/16 over the Illinois River between Calhoun County, Illinois and Greene County, Illinois.
The Illinois Department of Transportation says the closures are part of a long-term bridge repair project and will begin weather permitting. During the initial phase, traffic will be reduced to one lane with flaggers directing two-way traffic. These daytime lane closures will continue through Friday, May 15.
Beginning Monday, May 18, traffic control will shift to temporary signals to maintain two-way traffic through the work zone.
Officials say the closures are necessary for ongoing bridge repairs, with the project expected to continue through June 30, 2027.
Motorists should expect long delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes during the closure. Drivers are urged to reduce speed, remain alert for changing conditions, obey all posted construction signage, and refrain from using mobile devices while approaching and traveling through the work zone.
