LIHEAP APPLICATIONS TO OPEN THIS FALL IN PITTSFIELD AND MOUNT STERLING

PITTSFIELD, IL — Two Rivers Regional Council of Public Officials will begin accepting applications this fall for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, with local application sites available in both Pittsfield and Mount Sterling.

The program helps qualifying households with energy bills and certain reconnection costs. Beginning October 1, applications will open first for adults age 60 and older,

Individuals with a disability, families with children age five and younger, and households facing utility disconnection or very low propane supplies. Applications then open November 1 to all income-eligible households.

Residents in the Pittsfield area may apply through Two Rivers Regional Council at 120 South Madison Street in Pittsfield, while Brown County residents may apply at 206 Southwest Cross Street in Mount Sterling.

Applicants will need documentation including proof of household income for the previous 30 days, current heating and electric bills, and Social Security number documentation for new applicants or new household members. Renters whose heating costs are included in their rent may also be eligible for cash assistance if they provide a copy of their lease or rental agreement.
