GRIGGSVILLE — Griggsville-Perry School District families are being notified about a series of building upgrades and renovations planned across both the Griggsville and Perry campuses for the 2026-2027 school year.

Superintendent Bill Capps said district administration and staff are already preparing for the next school year, with several long-needed projects scheduled at district facilities.

At Griggsville, the high school is expected to receive a major renovation that includes installation of a geothermal HVAC system. Capps said many rooms in the building either had no heat, no air conditioning, or lacked both. The high school work will also include drop ceilings and high-efficiency lighting throughout the building.

The Griggsville elementary school will receive a new roof, and bathrooms at the cafeteria will be upgraded.

At the Perry campus, the middle school will also receive a new roof, along with electrical upgrades at the Perry building.

Capps said the renovations are being funded through Health, Life, Safety bonds and alternative revenue bonds arranged through the district’s bonding agency. He said the district also restructured an agricultural building bond, allowing debt service on the bonds to remain the same as it has been this past year.

The district is also working with an energy performance contractor, with a contracted guaranteed energy savings of $4 million over the next 20 years.

Families with questions about the project or other school-related matters can contact the district at 217-833-2352.
