BLUFFS, Ill. — The Scott-Morgan school board met this week in Bluffs with budget, staffing, and district operations on the agenda.

The meeting followed a public hearing on the district’s amended budget. Board members were also expected to review a teacher recruitment incentive program, along with options involving the district office location.

The teacher recruitment discussion comes as small rural school districts continue working to keep classrooms staffed and compete for qualified teachers. Recruiting and retaining teachers has become an important issue for many districts, especially in smaller communities where the applicant pool can be limited.

Other agenda items included approval of a phone system lease and declaring 3-D printers as surplus property.

The board was also expected to go into closed session for personnel matters, with possible action afterward.

The meeting was held at the Scott-Morgan district building on West Rockwood Street in Bluffs.
