QUINCY, Ill. — Three people have been arrested following a months-long investigation into the theft of refrigerant coils from air-conditioning systems across Adams County and Quincy, according to the Adams County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators began receiving reports of the missing equipment in August 2026. Deputies subsequently identified several people of interest and executed multiple search warrants, the sheriff's office reported.
Garry J. Dunn, 25, faces two counts of burglary, six counts of theft, a count of theft involving more than $10,000, criminal trespass and possession of stolen property, according to authorities.
Callie E. Riley, 28, faces allegations of possession of stolen property, theft involving more than $10,000, criminal trespass, burglary and possession of methamphetamine.
Matthew A. Morrill, 29, faces allegations of possession of stolen property, theft involving more than $10,000, possession of a firearm without a Firearm Owner's Identification card, criminal trespass and burglary.
Deputies and members of the agency's Special Response Team also searched a property in the 4800 block of North 72nd Street. The sheriff's office said investigators recovered several items connected to the reported thefts and returned them to their owners.
Authorities have not released a complete estimate of the losses or identified every location affected in the information reported so far. The allegations are criminal charges, not findings of guilt. All three defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
