TROY RESIDENT CHARGED IN GUNPOINT ROBBERY DURING ONLINE SALE MEETING
TROY, Mo. — A Troy resident faces first-degree robbery and armed criminal action charges stemming from a May 26, 2026, meeting arranged through an online sale, according to details attributed to a Troy Police Department probable cause statement and Lincoln County court filings.
Investigators allege the seller entered the back seat of a vehicle expecting to complete a transaction when three people instead took his belongings at gunpoint. Chase Steven Murphy is accused of pointing a loaded firearm at the seller's head and later driving the vehicle away from the scene. Troy police received the robbery report at approximately 8:36 p.m.
Authorities reported apprehending all three suspects. A probable cause account says Murphy subsequently gave a recorded statement with a guardian present and acknowledged involvement in the incident. Those statements are allegations contained in the case, not findings of guilt.
An arrest warrant in Lincoln County case 26L6-CR00633 was reportedly signed October 2 and filed October 16. Judge Michael R. Jacobs set bond at $25,000 cash only. Conditions for any release include no contact with the alleged victim, no possession of weapons and GPS monitoring with geographic restrictions.
Murphy is charged with first-degree robbery, a Class A felony, and armed criminal action. The charges concern the May incident; the October court filing is the new development. The allegations have not been proven in court, and Murphy is presumed innocent unless convicted.
