NEWBURG TOWNSHIP, IL — Authorities have identified 35-year-old Cory J. Dobson of Winchester as the man killed in a single-vehicle crash on Illinois Route 106 at 430th Lane in Pike County on Wednesday, September 30.

The Pike County Sheriff’s Department and Illinois State Police were dispatched to the crash at about 5:46 a.m. A passerby who was a nurse and responding law enforcement officers attempted lifesaving measures, but Dobson died at the scene. He was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced deceased by the Pike County Coroner.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police and the Pike County Coroner’s Office. Sheriff and Coroner David Greenwood said an autopsy was performed on October 2.

The Pittsfield Fire Department and Pike County EMS also assisted at the scene.
