BAYLIS — A Pike County, Illinois woman has pleaded guilty but mentally ill to multiple felony charges tied to two separate incidents late last year.

Twenty-eight-year-old Madelyn Syrcle entered the plea Tuesday in Pike County Circuit Court before Judge J. Frank McCartney.

Court records show the charges stem from incidents on December 20 and December 30. In the first case, Syrcle pleaded guilty to residential burglary and criminal damage to property.

In the second incident, she pleaded guilty to residential arson, another count of residential burglary, and criminal damage to property by fire or explosion.

Syrcle has remained in custody at the Pike County Jail in Pittsfield since her arrest by Pike County Sheriff’s deputies.

Court documents also show that two separate emergency orders of protection were filed against her earlier this year by different individuals.

She is scheduled to return to court for sentencing on May 12.
