BEYOND THE FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS: A BUSY WEEK FOR TWIN PIKES FALL SPORTS

TWIN PIKES — Football may own Friday night, but there is plenty happening across the Twin Pikes sports calendar before the lights come on again this week.

On the Illinois side, postseason golf takes center stage as Pittsfield and Brown County compete in the Class 1A sectional at Waterloo. The sectional round gives area golfers a chance to extend their seasons against some of the strongest competition in the region.

Volleyball also fills the midweek schedule. Western is set to face Quincy Notre Dame, while Pittsfield heads to Camp Point carrying a three-match winning streak. With the regular season moving deeper into October, every match becomes increasingly important as teams build toward the postseason.

Across the river in Missouri, softball continues to provide much of the local action through Thursday, with area teams working through the final stretch of their fall schedules.

The calendar may not have the single-event spotlight of Friday night football, but golf, volleyball and softball give local fans plenty to follow all week long. RiverNewsLive will continue tracking Twin Pikes teams and results as the week develops.
