LOCKDOWN LIFTED AFTER BOMB THREAT AT ASCEND WELLNESS IN BARRY

BARRY — A lockdown has been lifted following a bomb threat reported Tuesday morning at the Ascend Wellness facility in Barry.
The threat was reported shortly before 8 a.m. Tuesday, August 25. Illinois State Police assisted the Pike County Sheriff’s Department with the response.
Nearby Barry Healthcare and Senior Living was also placed on lockdown as a precaution while authorities responded to the situation.
By midday Tuesday, the lockdown at Ascend Wellness had been lifted.
Authorities had not released additional details on how the threat was made, whether any suspicious device was located, or whether anyone had been arrested.
The incident prompted a significant law-enforcement response Tuesday morning and affected operations at nearby facilities while the situation was being investigated.
