Federal Indictment Filed Against Man Arrested in Calhoun County Child-Solicitation Investigation

HARDIN, Ill. — A man arrested in Calhoun County, Illinois, following an investigation into the alleged online solicitation of a child has now been indicted on federal charges.

Calhoun County Sheriff Zach Hardin announced that Orlin Guevara-Ulloa has been indicted in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois on charges of enticement of a minor and illegal reentry after deportation. Guevara-Ulloa remains in federal custody.

The case began March 30, 2026, when Hardin and Pike County, Illinois Chief Deputy Zack Orr arrested Guevara-Ulloa in Hardin. Authorities initially accused him of attempting to solicit a 13-year-old child. The original arrest included allegations of indecent solicitation of a child, grooming, solicitation to meet a child, traveling to meet a child and possession of a fictitious or altered identification card.

Hardin said he continued the investigation in partnership with agents from the Department of Homeland Security. The Calhoun County State’s Attorney’s Office, United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Illinois and Illinois State Police forensic laboratory also assisted with the case.

According to Hardin, the federal enticement charge carries a potential sentence ranging from 10 years to life in prison and could require sex-offender registration if Guevara-Ulloa is convicted.

Hardin urged parents to speak with their children about safe internet practices and to contact law enforcement whenever they believe a child or another family member may have been targeted by an online predator.

The sheriff credited Online Predator Intervention with handling the initial investigation and helping authorities locate the suspect. He also thanked Orr, deputies from Pike County, Illinois and Calhoun County, Illinois, federal investigators, prosecutors and Illinois State Police personnel for their assistance.

“As always, I will remain steadfast in my obligation to protect your children and mine,” Hardin said.

An indictment is a formal accusation and does not constitute proof of guilt. Guevara-Ulloa is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
