HANNIBAL — A Missouri family continues to search for answers nearly three years after the disappearance of Brian James Snyder, a 6-foot-6 Hannibal resident who was last known to be alive in May 2022.

Snyder, born February 28, 1976, was raised in Mount Sterling, Illinois, and had lived in Hannibal at the time he vanished. Family members say it is completely out of character for him to go long periods without contact, making the extended silence deeply concerning. He also has known ties to Louisiana, Missouri, and Springfield, Illinois.

According to information shared by relatives and advocates, Snyder last spoke with family by phone on May 7, 2022, and was believed to be alive and well at that time.

He was reportedly last seen walking sometime between May 9 and May 16, 2022, near Cave Hollow Road. He did not have access to a vehicle or bicycle and was last known to be wearing a black shirt, black pants, and black boots.

Snyder is described as bald by choice, with blue eyes and a blonde-to-gray mustache.

At the time of his disappearance, he weighed approximately 250 pounds. He has multiple identifying features, including scars on his neck and back, a surgically repaired collarbone with a metal plate and pins, and a prominent scar on his left arm. He also has numerous tattoos, including skull designs on his forearms, his daughters’ names tattooed on his wrists, and his last name tattooed across his shoulder blades.

Family members say Snyder loved the outdoors and frequently enjoyed fishing, camping, hiking, and spending time at Sodalis Nature Preserve. His unexplained disappearance has raised ongoing concerns, and relatives believe the circumstances warrant continued attention.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Hannibal Police Department at 573-221-0987. Tips may also be shared with family advocates involved in the search. Even details that seem minor—such as seeing someone matching Snyder’s description or finding abandoned clothing or boots—could be important.

As the search continues, Snyder’s family is asking the public to share information and remain alert in hopes of finally bringing answers, and closure, to a case that has remained unresolved for far too long.
