MEREDOSIA MAN FACES MULTIPLE CHARGES AFTER BRIEF MORGAN COUNTY PURSUIT
Updated: Sep 30

MEREDOSIA, Ill. — A Meredosia man is facing several charges after authorities say a brief police pursuit moved through residential streets before ending at the driver’s own home.
Morgan County authorities say a sheriff’s deputy recognized a pickup truck on Washington Street and believed the driver had a suspended license. Before the deputy could make a traffic stop, the truck allegedly accelerated and continued through several stop signs, reaching speeds of about 55 miles per hour on Park Street.
The pursuit ended when the driver pulled into his own driveway, got out of the truck and surrendered. Morgan County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Jamie Jackson said investigators believe the driver may have been trying to avoid having the vehicle towed.
Brandon Engelmann, 43, of Meredosia was arrested on charges including aggravated fleeing, reckless driving, speeding, driving while license is suspended, operating an uninsured vehicle and disregarding a traffic control device. The charges are allegations, and Engelmann is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
