CHICAGO — Molina Healthcare of Illinois has announced a new partnership with Mae, a digitally enabled maternal health platform, aimed at expanding pregnancy and postpartum support services for expectant mothers across the state.
Through the collaboration, Molina Medicaid members will gain access to real-time digital symptom monitoring, designed to help identify and address physical and social health risks early in pregnancy and after childbirth. The program also connects members with a network of vetted, insurance-eligible doulas, offering emotional, physical, and educational support throughout pregnancy, delivery, and the postpartum period.
In addition to individual support, the partnership provides small group-based education, along with pregnancy-related resources and materials intended to guide mothers through each stage of their pregnancy journey.
Mae founder and CEO Maya Hardigan said the partnership combines technology with community-based care to improve maternal health outcomes statewide. She said the model is designed not only to support individual mothers, but also to help drive broader improvements in maternal health systems.
The initiative aligns with Illinois’ recent efforts to prioritize maternal health, including the extension of postpartum Medicaid coverage. According to state data, Illinois has a preterm birth rate of 10.4 percent, and Medicaid covers more than 40 percent of all births statewide. Mae’s outcome-driven platform has shown measurable results, including a reported 41 percent reduction in preterm birth rates among members actively engaged in the program.
Molina Healthcare of Illinois Plan President Kris Classen said the organization shares Mae’s commitment to improving outcomes for mothers and infants. He said the digital platform helps ensure expectant and new mothers have access to timely care and support during pregnancy, delivery, and early childhood.
