LOUISIANA — The Louisiana R-2 School District is welcoming a new face into its schools this week as Officer Kaitlyn Alexandro officially begins her first day as the district’s School Resource Officer.
District and city officials say the addition of a dedicated School Resource Officer has been in development for some time and represents a significant step forward in supporting the safety and well-being of students across the Louisiana school system.
School leaders emphasized that the role goes beyond traditional security measures. In addition to maintaining safety, the program is designed to foster positive relationships, trust, and mentorship, with Officer Alexandro serving as a familiar and approachable presence for students throughout the school day.
Officer Alexandro is expected to be actively involved across school campuses, spending time in classrooms, lunchrooms, and at school events while working closely with students, staff, and families. Officials say her presence allows students to focus on learning and personal growth in a supportive environment.
The district also expressed appreciation to Dr. Ward, the Louisiana R-2 School District, and school staff for their support and collaboration in launching the program, noting that strong partnerships between schools and local law enforcement play an important role in strengthening the community.
In addition to her new assignment, Officer Alexandro was recently honored as the City of Louisiana’s Employee of the Month, recognizing her dedication and service.
Families and community members are encouraged to greet Officer Alexandro when they see her in the schools and help extend a warm Bulldog welcome as she begins her work with Louisiana students.
