PITTSFIELD -- Pittsfield Public Library has a new StoryWalk available at King Park, giving families a chance to enjoy reading, fresh air, and a walk through the park all at the same time. The featured book is On the Last Day of School by Maggie C. Rudd, a children’s picture book that celebrates the friendships, laughter, growth, and memories that come with the end of a school year. Publisher information describes the book as a joyful story about the triumphs of the school year and the bittersweet feeling of seeing it come to a close.
The library says this StoryWalk is lovingly dedicated to educators in the community who encourage young readers, inspire students, and help children grow into confident learners. Families are invited to stroll through King Park, read the story along the route, and take photos during their walk. Pittsfield Public Library is encouraging participants to tag the library or send photos to be shared on its Facebook page.
There is also a special incentive for young readers. The first five children to complete the StoryWalk will receive a Dari Ripple gift card, along with a gift card they can give to their teacher. The King Park StoryWalk has been part of the Pittsfield community since its 2023 opening, when the library and community partners helped create an outdoor reading experience with story stations placed through the park
