PIKE COUNTY, IL -- The Illinois Department of Revenue has announced Pike County, Illinois has been assigned a tentative property assessment equalization factor, commonly known as the multiplier, of 1.0000 for tax year 2025 payable in 2026.

A multiplier of one means Pike County property assessments are already considered in line with the state requirement that property be assessed at one-third of market value. State officials said Pike County assessments are averaging 33.32 percent of market value, based on property sales from 2022 through 2024.

The multiplier is used to create fairness between counties, especially in taxing districts that cross county lines such as schools, fire districts, and colleges.

Officials stressed that a multiplier change does not automatically raise or lower property tax bills. Final tax bills are based on how much money local governments request to fund services.

Last year’s Pike County multiplier was also 1.0000. The tentative figure remains subject to public review and possible revision following a hearing later this spring.
