PLEASANT HILL, Ill. — Repairs are complete following a major natural gas leak that knocked out service to much of Pleasant Hill on Wednesday afternoon, and village crews are now working to restore service to affected customers.

The leak was reported just before 1 p.m. on King Road near Nutrien Ag Solutions. Gas service was shut off to properties south of Quincy Street, which is Illinois Route 96, while the Pleasant Hill Fire Department and village crews responded.

Village officials confirmed shortly before 4 p.m. that repairs to the leak had been completed. Pleasant Hill Public Works employees then began going door to door to affected homes so individual gas meters could be shut off before the main line was brought back into service.

Residents in the affected area need to be home before service can be restored at their property. Village officials have asked residents who are ready for restoration to turn on their porch light so crews know someone is home.
