Woodrow Polston says collaboration, transparency, and economic growth would define his leadership if elected mayor of Louisiana.
Polston, who moved to Louisiana in 2019 with his family, is president of Polston House Publishing and a published author and journalist. He currently serves as president of Louisiana Concerned Citizens, worship leader at Belong Church, and a member of the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission, where he has served for three years. He says those roles have shaped a leadership style focused on servanthood, cooperation, and professionalism.
In response to B97.5’s mayoral questionnaire, Polston emphasized restoring public trust through resident surveys, town hall meetings, and what he described as “bold transparency,” with public records and information released whenever legally permissible. On public safety, he stressed strong support for the Louisiana Police Department, citing the connection between safety, property values, and long-term community growth.
Economic development and housing are central to Polston’s vision. He pointed to his work on the “Field of Dreams” initiative, which identified unused city-owned properties for potential development, and said he has already engaged a Missouri home builder interested in constructing a new subdivision. He also noted early discussions with a business owner about a possible multiplex cinema and outdoor go-kart attraction. Polston said he is firmly opposed to tax increases and believes infrastructure improvements should be pursued through grants, partnerships, and responsible budgeting.
Polston said the city’s biggest challenge is learning to work together, and that the mayor’s role is to maintain order, professionalism, and focus during city council proceedings while representing Louisiana publicly with integrity.
B97.5 News also submitted the same mayoral questionnaire to Mark Haddock. We have spoken to Mr Haddock and he has indicated he will have his responses to the questionnaire to us soon and we will publish a profile on him as well when we get the information from him and his campaign. We want to give equal time to all candidates.
