Residential trash service rates will increase in Louisiana following action by the Louisiana City Council.
City officials approved Resolution No. 02-2026, authorizing a 5.6 percent cumulative rate increase tied to inflation under the city’s existing contract with Daynes Solid Waste Service. The adjustment is based on changes in the Consumer Price Index and reflects inflation for 2025 and 2026, as allowed by the terms of the contract.
The new trash rates take effect February 1, 2026, and apply across all residential service levels. This includes customers using city-owned or rented toters, as well as those receiving back-door trash service.
City leaders said the increase is not a new fee or contract renegotiation, but rather an inflationary adjustment permitted under the current agreement. Officials noted that CPI-based increases are intended to keep service levels sustainable as operating costs rise over time.
A full breakdown of the updated rates is included in the city’s official documentation related to the resolution.
Residents with questions about how the rate change affects their specific service level are encouraged to review the city’s published materials or contact City Hall for additional information.
We will continue to share important local updates that impact residents across the Twin Pikes region.
