LOUISIANA — Woodrow Polston was officially sworn in this week as the new Ward 1 city council member after being appointed by Mayor Tim Carter. The oath of office was administered by City Clerk Riley Anderson following Polston’s acceptance of the appointment.
Polston’s appointment comes as he is also a declared candidate for mayor in the upcoming April 7 municipal election. He fills the Ward 1 council seat while continuing his campaign for the city’s top elected position.
Prior to joining the city council, Polston served on the Louisiana Planning and Zoning Commission and has been involved with several local nonprofit and community outreach organizations, giving him experience in municipal planning and community-focused initiatives.
“I’m looking forward to working with the mayor and council to foster an atmosphere for real change and positive outcomes,” Polston said following his swearing-in.
City officials say Polston will immediately begin participating in council meetings and city business as he represents Ward 1 residents during the remainder of the current term.
