CARROLLTON, IL Local campaign coordinator Billy Springman, 21, announced that Republican gubernatorial candidate Darren Bailey will make a stop in Carrollton next month as part of his statewide tour.

The event is scheduled for Tuesday, March 10, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Walnut Hall Estates and is open to the public. Organizers say it will give residents an opportunity to meet Bailey and hear about his priorities for Illinois.

Bailey, a former state senator and small business owner, is competing for the Republican nomination for governor in the March 17 primary election. Other Republicans seeking the nomination are participating in debates and candidate forums across the state this winter.

At a recent event in Jacksonville, Republican lieutenant governor candidates spoke about party unity, while gubernatorial debates highlighted a range of policy positions among GOP contenders.

Statewide Campaign LandscapeDemocratic incumbent Gov. J.B. Pritzker is running for re-election and has begun campaign activities around the state. The governor has held public appearances in past months across several regions, including central Illinois, as part of his reelection effort, although no public events have been posted recently for this week’s calendar.

Both major party nominations will be decided in the March 17, 2026 primary election, setting the stage for the general election in November.
