KINDERHOOK — A Barry woman is facing multiple felony charges after Pike County deputies say a domestic disturbance investigation in Kinderhook escalated into an alleged home invasion, assault, and child abduction that crossed state lines.
According to the Pike County Sheriff's Department, deputies were dispatched at approximately 5:44 p.m. on May 4 to a residence in the 100 block of Van Buren Street in Kinderhook following reports of a domestic disturbance.
Investigators say deputies determined 37-year-old Marissa D. Lawson of Barry unlawfully entered the residence and physically assaulted a family member during the incident. Authorities further allege Lawson removed children from the home despite not having legal custody before leaving Illinois.
Law enforcement later located Lawson in Monroe City, Missouri.
Following the investigation, Lawson was charged with Home Invasion, Residential Burglary, Aggravated Battery involving a person over 60 years old, and Aggravated Kidnapping.
Officials say the investigation remains ongoing and additional information could be released as the case develops.
Lawson is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
