BLUFFS — The village of Bluffs is gearing up for a busy summer season with several community events and improvement efforts planned over the next several weeks.
Village officials announced that a citywide yard sale will be held June 20. Residents interested in participating are being encouraged to contact village board member Brenda Kauffman for additional information.
The Bluffs Farmers Market is also set to return beginning June 2. Organizers say this year’s market will feature a rotating lineup of food trucks at select events, including vendors serving pizza and Asian cuisine.
Mayor Linda Sapp also told board members that Beth Hutton with the Scott County Health Department is planning to bring children to the community for a possible pickleball tournament that could coincide with the farmers market activities.
In preparation for summer cleanup efforts, village board members approved a $2,300 payment to J&J Sanitation for two 20-yard dumpsters that will be available during the citywide cleanup scheduled for May 15 through May 17.
Village officials also noted that the steering committee for the Management and
Planning Programs Involving Non-Metropolitan Groups is expected to meet Tuesday to discuss future efforts aimed at improving Bluffs’ economic growth and community development.
