BOWLING GREEN — The City of Bowling Green has been awarded the Missouri Blue Shield designation for 2026, recognizing its continued commitment to public safety, law enforcement support, and community partnerships. City officials say the designation is granted through a statewide program that evaluates communities on efforts to reduce crime, invest in public safety resources, and strengthen relationships between law enforcement and residents.
The Blue Shield program, launched in 2025, requires communities to apply annually, with Bowling Green earning the designation again after meeting updated standards for 2026. State leaders say the program highlights communities that prioritize safety through both enforcement and community-based initiatives.
As part of the designation, Bowling Green may be eligible for future state grant funding to support law enforcement training and equipment, pending state budget approval. Officials say past funding has helped communities statewide purchase items such as body cameras, radios, and patrol vehicles.
Local leaders say Bowling Green’s recognition reflects ongoing efforts including new community-focused policing initiatives and partnerships with local businesses, aimed at maintaining a safe environment for residents and visitors alike.
