BOWLING GREEN — The Bowling Green R-1 School District will be searching for new leadership following the resignation of its superintendent.

During a special Board of Education meeting, the board approved the resignation of Superintendent Nick Larson, which will take effect June 30, 2026.

In a message to district families, Larson said the decision was not easy but was made in the best interest of his family as he prepares to transition out of public education. He also expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the Bowling Green community and work alongside district staff.

Larson noted that he plans to remain in his role through the end of the school year and will continue working with staff and students in the coming months.

District officials have not yet announced next steps in the process to select a new superintendent.
