CLARKSVILLE — The Show Me Missouri State Chili Cook-Off is set to return to Clarksville on June 13 after a two-year hiatus caused by floodwall construction at Riverfront Park.

The event, hosted by the Raintree Arts Council, will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will feature chili sampling, live music, vendors, raffles, and competitions with cooks vying for a chance to advance to a world championship.

Organizer Linda Blakey said the return of the cook-off marks a big moment for the community following years of disruption. “Clarksville is back together now,” Blakey said. “The park is in good shape. People want the Cook-Off. It’s a fun, family event.”

Participants will compete in red, verde, and homestyle chili categories, with judges scoring entries based on taste, spices, and color. Cooks will have three hours to prepare their entries, and all competitors must be members of the International Chili Society.

Admission and sampling fees will apply, and organizers say additional food, cold beverages, and entertainment will be available throughout the day. Vendors and volunteers are still being sought for the event.

Blakey emphasized that great chili is about balance and patience, noting that flavor—not just heat—is key to a winning recipe.

The cook-off last took place in Clarksville in 2023 and remains one of the region’s most popular summer events.
