DETROIT — A Pike County, Illinois church is preparing to celebrate a major milestone as Detroit Christian Church marks its 150th anniversary with a weekend of events honoring its long history in the community.

The celebration will take place Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7 at the church, located at 400 Main Street in Detroit. Organizers say the weekend is designed to reflect on generations of faith, fellowship, and service in the area.

Saturday’s activities will begin at 2 p.m. and will include singing, personal testimonies, and a brief message. The church will also dedicate a new historic marker and plant a maple tree to commemorate the anniversary.

On Sunday morning at 10:30, the congregation will recreate the original order of service from the church’s 100th anniversary held in 1976. The celebration will conclude with a traditional “dinner on the grounds,” inviting attendees to gather for food and fellowship.

Church leaders say the event is open to the public and welcome both longtime members and community residents to take part in the historic weekend.
