PIKE COUNTY, IL — One of Pike County’s best-known autumn traditions is making a comeback.
Organizers of Pike County Fall Pickin Days say the Pike County Color Drive name and tradition are being revived this year, bringing renewed attention to the countywide fall weekend that has long drawn visitors through Pike County’s small towns, backroads, scenic countryside, and local attractions.
The event is set for the third weekend of October and will once again invite visitors to explore Pike County during one of the most colorful times of the year. For decades, the Pike County Color Drive brought people from across Illinois and surrounding states for artisan demonstrations, antiques, flea markets, handcrafted goods, live music, roadside markets, seasonal foods, and fall scenery.
Organizers say the return of the Color Drive name reflects the continued public attachment to the longtime tradition while building on what Fall Pickin Days has become.
“This event has always been about celebrating Pike County, supporting our small towns, and giving families a reason to explore the area during one of the most beautiful times of year,” organizers said. “People never stopped asking about the Pike County Color Drive, and we’re excited to bring that tradition back while continuing to grow what Fall Pickin Days has become.”
This year’s event is expected to feature antique and vintage vendors, artisan and craft booths, flea markets, yard sales, food trucks, local dining, traditional arts and trades demonstrations, live entertainment, community activities, and scenic fall driving routes throughout Pike County.
Community groups, businesses, vendors, musicians, and volunteers are being encouraged to take part. Additional details, including town activities, maps, vendor information, and event updates, will be announced throughout the summer on the official Pike County Color Drive Facebook page.
