LOUISIANA — A former Louisiana, Missouri police officer charged in a case involving the theft and sale of a department-issued firearm has been sentenced to five years of parole following a plea agreement that resolved the more than year-old case.
Court records show Daylon Green, a former Louisiana police detective, originally faced four felony charges and two misdemeanors stemming from incidents that occurred in November 2024. As part of a plea deal finalized earlier this year, four of those charges were dismissed, and Green pleaded guilty to two felony counts.
According to a probable cause statement, Louisiana Police Chief Josh Baker notified the Pike County Sheriff’s Office on November 19, 2024, that Green had sold his department-issued service rifle the previous month to a Bowling Green resident for $1,000 without authorization from the city. The firearm was later recovered and returned to the Louisiana Police Department.
Those actions resulted in two charges: stealing a firearm and selling the firearm, both of which Green admitted to as part of the plea agreement.
Additional court documents allege that Green later reported his patrol vehicle stolen and claimed a juvenile was responsible after the vehicle was found crashed into street signs. Investigators, however, determined that a witness saw Green crash the patrol car himself and leave the scene. Those allegations led to additional charges, including property damage, leaving the scene of an accident, and making a false report.
Those additional counts were dismissed on January 6 as part of the negotiated plea deal.
Green was formally sentenced this week to five years of supervised parole.
