LOUISIANA -- A local Girl Scout troop in Louisiana, Missouri is stepping up to support children facing serious heart conditions, launching a community-wide donation drive with a deeply personal mission.

Girl Scout Troop 3429 is organizing a “Heart Hero Comfort Drive,” collecting items for children undergoing treatment for congenital heart defects. The effort is inspired by Troop leader Mika, whose daughter Iris has spent significant time in hospitals due to heart complications, including multiple life-saving surgeries. The troop says the drive is focused on bringing comfort, distraction, and a sense of normalcy to kids during difficult hospital stays.

The troop is asking for donations of brand-new items such as LEGO sets, coloring books and crayons, Hot Wheels, Barbies, craft kits, activities for teens, stuffed animals with embroidered eyes, and new clothing for kids and teens. All items must be new, in original packaging, and without small or loose parts for safety reasons.

Organizers say the project is about turning personal experience into something positive for others, helping families who are going through similar challenges.

Anyone interested in donating or learning more can contact Troop Leader Mika Watts at 573-591-1835. A deadline for donations is expected to be announced soon.
