Greene County Fair Celebrates 100 Years Of Grandstand

CARROLLTON -The Greene County Agricultural Fair is underway in Carrollton, with this year’s event marking 100 years of the fair’s grandstand.
The fair continues through Saturday at the Greene County Fairgrounds, located at 233 East Illinois Route 108. Gate admission is $5, and children 5 and under are admitted free.
Fair board member Mark Walker said the carnival includes 12 rides this year. Nightly carnival armbands were reduced to $25 after a change in the company operating the rides. The carnival is open from 5 to 10 p.m. through Friday, with a Saturday matinee from 1 to 4 p.m. featuring $15 armbands, followed by a late-night carnival from 6 to 10 p.m.
Friday events include the FFA Show at 8:30 a.m., the goat show at 4 p.m., pedal tractor pulls at 5 p.m., and truck and tractor pulls at 7 p.m. Tyson Schulte and The Truth Be Told will perform at 9 p.m. Friday, with all seating at $10 and pit passes at $20.
Saturday will close out the fair with the 4-H Show at 8 a.m., garden tractor pulls at 10 a.m., a cornhole tournament at noon, master showmanship at 2 p.m., the 4-H auction and power wheels derby at 5 p.m., and the demolition derby at 7 p.m. Fireworks will follow the derby, and Highway 67 will perform at 9 p.m.
The Greene County Fair continues through Saturday in Carrollton.
