PITTSFIELD — Young anglers had a chance to reel in both fish and valuable experience this past Saturday during the Pike County Area Anglers Kids Fishing Day at Pittsfield Lake, with organizers calling the event a big success.
Youth participants spent the day targeting crappie alongside experienced members, learning hands-on tips and techniques to improve their fishing skills. The event focused on introducing kids to the sport while building confidence on the water in a fun, supportive setting.
A new life jacket borrowing station also made its debut during the event, with young participants becoming the first to use the safety feature—an effort aimed at promoting safe fishing practices for families across the area.
Organizers also thanked members and community supporters who helped make the day possible, including donations from ACC Crappie Stix, Brushpile Jigs, and Taylor’s Bait & Tackle. Those contributions will help continue youth fishing opportunities in the future.
Events like this, organizers say, play a key role in passing down outdoor traditions while encouraging the next generation to stay active and involved in the community.
