BOWLING GREEN — A Louisiana, Missouri man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison following a 2025 armed standoff and threats involving a mowing crew in Pike County, Missouri.
A Pike County, Missouri jury found Anthony Q. Bachler, 55, guilty on March 10 of felony harassment, felony unlawful use of a weapon, and two counts of armed criminal action after a two-day trial.
The charges stem from a July 2025 incident in which Bachler confronted members of a mowing crew contracted by the City of Louisiana, Missouri. The crew had arrived at his home to address an overgrown property when Bachler allegedly pointed a rifle at them and made threats as they began unloading equipment.
Authorities later recovered the firearm, which prosecutors said had a full drum magazine attached with a round chambered.
The situation escalated into a standoff on July 4, 2025, in the 500 block of Nebraska Street in Louisiana, Missouri. Bachler barricaded himself inside the residence and refused to come out, prompting a response from the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Pike County Sheriff’s Office.
After approximately two and a half hours, officers were able to make contact by phone and convince him to surrender peacefully. A search warrant executed at the home resulted in the seizure of firearms and ammunition.
On April 21, Judge James Beck sentenced Bachler to 10 years in prison.
