LOUISIANA — Mark Haddock cruised to a decisive victory in the Louisiana mayoral race Tuesday night, overwhelming his opponents with a dominant share of the vote. Haddock received 606 votes, easily defeating Woodrow Polston, who finished with 62 votes, and David Czerwinski, who received 16. The lopsided result gives Haddock a clear mandate as he takes over leadership of the city.
In Ward I, Emily Sitton secured the council seat with 134 votes, defeating Abricion Ivey, who received 26. Ward II voters filled two seats, with Jeremy Baker winning the 2-year term with 128 votes, while Alice Middleton Holtzhouser took the 1-year term with 129 votes in results as of 9:51PM Tuesday.
In Ward III, Susan Fregeau won comfortably with 135 votes, defeating Tim Carter. Ward IV saw the most competitive multi-candidate race, with Daryle Lee Wallace emerging on top with 102 votes, ahead of Eugene Baker and Jimmy D. Gott Jr.
Voter turnout varied across the city, ranging from around 28 percent in Ward II races to just over 40 percent in Ward IV, while the mayoral race turnout came in at just under 35 percent.
