LOUISIANA — Activity in the Louisiana mayoral race continues as candidates outline priorities focused on economic development, civic engagement and the city’s role in broader Pike County Missouri decisions.
Mayoral candidate Mark Haddock said he has been making visits throughout the community, including attending a recent Pike County Missouri Commission meeting where grant opportunities and future Highway 54 improvements were discussed.
Haddock described the current period as an “exciting time” for the county and said he wants Louisiana to become a stronger participant in county-level planning and infrastructure decisions. He emphasized building working relationships with the commission to ensure the city has a voice at the table.
Haddock also toured the Veolia facility in Louisiana, Missouri, which operates as a Resource Conservation and Recovery Act treatment, storage and disposal facility. The site uses ozone technology to sterilize medical waste and accepts materials for fuel blending and other treatment processes, including windmill blade disposal. Haddock noted the facility employs 24 people locally and said he discussed the potential for an internship or career partnership involving the company, local schools and the city as part of his workforce development platform.
Meanwhile, Woodrow Polston has announced a public youth rally in Louisiana aimed at encouraging civic participation and political engagement. The event, titled “Pizza. Politics. Polston.”, is being held at 620 North Fourth Street and is open to the public.
According to the event description, the rally will focus on discussions about local government, voter registration and the future of the City of Louisiana. The event emphasizes outreach to younger residents and promoting involvement in the political process.
As the mayoral campaign progresses, candidates are continuing to engage with residents and outline their visions for Louisiana’s economic growth, workforce development and civic participation.
