LOUISIANA — Tensions appear to be rising in the Louisiana mayoral race ahead of the April 7 election, as a candidate reports a misleading campaign postcard was distributed across the community.

Mark Haddock says he became aware of the situation after a friend showed him a postcard that had arrived in the mail. Haddock says the piece was not created or authorized by his campaign and does not reflect his views or positions.

“I’m not sure how many were actually sent out,” Haddock said. “I went to the post office to see if they had any information.”

At this time, it remains unclear how widely the postcards were distributed or who may be responsible for producing and mailing them.

The development comes just days after another RiverNewsLive report highlighted concerns raised by fellow candidate Woodrow Polston, who alleged campaign interference including stolen and damaged signs and misleading activity during the election cycle.

While no direct connection between the two situations has been confirmed, both incidents are raising concerns among candidates and voters about the tone and conduct of the local election.

With the April 7 vote approaching, candidates are encouraging residents to rely on official campaign communication and verified information when making decisions at the ballot box.
