LOUISIANA — The Louisiana Police Department is recognizing Autism Awareness Month in April with a visible show of support for individuals and families impacted by autism throughout the community.
Officers are wearing special Autism Awareness patches on their uniforms during the month. The patches were made possible through an anonymous donor and were formally presented to the department by children and staff from the Judevine Center for Autism, highlighting the strong connection between local law enforcement and the families they serve.
The department also acknowledged the ongoing work of the Judevine Center, which provides critical services, education, and support for children and families affected by autism. The organization focuses on helping individuals build life skills, encouraging independence, and offering meaningful resources to families across the region.
As part of its continued efforts, the Judevine Center is hosting a t-shirt fundraiser aimed at raising money for a new playground. The planned addition would create a safe, inclusive space where children of all abilities can play and interact together.
The Louisiana Police Department is encouraging community members to support the fundraiser and take time during Autism Awareness Month to promote understanding, acceptance, and inclusion.
