SPRINGFIELD — Schools across Illinois, including chapters serving Pike County Illinois, Greene County Illinois, Scott County Illinois, Brown County Illinois and Calhoun County Illinois, are recognizing National FFA Week with student-led activities highlighting agriculture and leadership.
National FFA Week honors the founding of the organization in 1928 and shines a spotlight on agricultural education programs offered in area high schools. Local chapters traditionally mark the week with spirit days, classroom agriculture awareness activities, community service projects and events designed to promote careers in farming, agribusiness, mechanics and natural resources.
Illinois remains one of the top FFA states in the nation, with thousands of students participating in hands-on agricultural training and leadership development programs. In west central Illinois, where agriculture remains a major economic driver, FFA programs continue to serve as a pipeline for future farmers, ag professionals and rural business leaders.
National FFA Week runs through Saturday.
