BOWLING GREEN, Mo. — A new chapter in city leadership is underway in Pike County, Missouri as Tom Thompson has officially been sworn in as mayor of Bowling Green. The swearing-in took place during Monday night’s Bowling Green City Council meeting, where several newly elected aldermen also took their oaths of office.

Joining Mayor Thompson were McCoy Thompson, representing Ward I, Myron Arttus of Ward III, and Mark Bair of Ward II, all of whom were sworn in during the same meeting. The ceremony marks a transition in leadership for the city, with multiple key positions now filled by newly elected officials.

Thompson takes office following the April municipal election, where he ran unopposed for the mayor’s seat. His term begins at a time when small communities like Bowling Green continue to focus on economic stability, infrastructure, and maintaining essential services for residents.

As mayor, Thompson will preside over city council meetings and help guide policy

decisions, working alongside the Board of Aldermen to shape the direction of the city.

The newly sworn-in council members will play a key role in representing their wards and addressing local concerns ranging from public works to community development.

City officials are expected to begin work immediately on upcoming agenda items and long-term planning efforts as the new leadership team settles into their roles.
