BOWLING GREEN — The Bowling Green R-I School District has named Dr. Jeff Jennewein as its next superintendent, with his tenure set to begin July 1 for the 2026–27 school year. Jennewein currently serves as superintendent of the Cole County R-I School District, where he has led for the past four years, following earlier administrative experience in the Jefferson City School District.
District leaders say Jennewein brings a strong focus on academic growth, including expanding Advanced Placement and dual credit opportunities to help students earn college credit while still in high school. He has also emphasized strengthening student support systems, improving graduation rates, and increasing overall academic success.
In addition to academics, Jennewein has worked to invest in teachers through salary increases, professional development, and collaboration opportunities. He has also prioritized clear communication with families and the community, while supporting extracurricular programs and overseeing facility improvements and long-term financial planning.
School officials say his ability to connect with people, solve problems, and focus on student success stood out during the hiring process. Jennewein says he is honored to serve the Bowling Green community and looks forward to building relationships with students, staff, and families while continuing the district’s tradition of excellence.
