BOWLING GREEN — A longtime voice of radio in the Twin Pikes region has passed away. Donald “Joe” Lewis, a veteran broadcaster who spent many years on the air and in sales at KPCR Radio in Bowling Green, has died.
Lewis was widely known across Pike County, Missouri and the surrounding region for his work at KPCR Radio, where he served both as an announcer and advertising representative. In addition to his role behind the microphone and working with local businesses, Lewis also held a minority ownership stake in the station alongside majority owners J. Paul Salois and his wife, Betty.
Over the years, Lewis became a familiar name in local broadcasting and was part of the era when hometown radio stations served as a central hub for community news, farm information, sports, and local advertising throughout the Twin Pikes region.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Donald “Joe” Lewis will be held Tuesday, March 10 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church, with Father Henry Ussher officiating. Burial will follow at St. Clement Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation is scheduled for Monday, March 9 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Bibb-Veach Funeral Homes and Crematory in Bowling Green.
