QUINCY — A Quincy man has been sentenced to more than five decades in prison following convictions on multiple child pornography-related charges.
Christopher R. Romo, 33, was sentenced to a total of 55 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, with 38 of those years ordered to be served consecutively.
According to court records, the sentence includes 12 years each for two counts of child pornography, 8½ years each for two additional counts, and 14 years for child photography by a sex offender.
During the sentencing hearing, prosecutors revealed that Romo had been released from the Department of Corrections in May of 2024 before committing additional offenses within months. Evidence presented in court showed he had been communicating with multiple teenage victims online, including one directly connected to the case.
Adams County Assistant State’s Attorney Laura Keck described Romo as a predator who sought out teenage victims and attempted to bring them to his residence. Judge Tad Brenner agreed, citing the seriousness of the crimes and Romo’s prior criminal history, which includes previous sex offense convictions, in handing down the lengthy sentence.
The Adams County State’s Attorney’s Office also commended the victim in the case, calling her courageous for coming forward and testifying.
