HANNIBAL, MISSOURI — Human remains discovered in Hannibal on Feb. 15 have been positively identified as Brian Snyder, a man with ties to Louisiana, Missouri, who had been missing since May 2022, authorities confirmed. Snyder disappeared from a job site near Mark Twain Cave nearly four years ago, and his disappearance sparked searches and community concern across northeast Missouri.

According to the Hannibal Police Department, an autopsy and forensic examination confirmed Snyder’s identity, and investigators say no foul play is suspected in his death.

Over the years, Hannibal police conducted multiple interviews and searches, and in November 2025 executed a search warrant at a Lewis County farm based on a potential lead, but no evidence connected to Snyder was found at that time.

In the wake of Snyder’s discovery, his family has created a GoFundMe campaign to help cover final expenses. The fundraiser, titled “Support for Brianna & Cheyenne After Tragic Loss,” aims to provide financial assistance to Snyder’s loved ones as they make arrangements following this difficult outcome.

Police urge anyone with additional information on the case to contact the Hannibal Police Department.
