CLARKSVILLE — The Raintree Arts Council and The Changelings Theatre are bringing the beloved stage production Steel Magnolias to The Apple Shed in Clarksville later this month. Performances are scheduled for March 21 and 28 at 7 p.m., and March 22 and 29 at 2 p.m., with tickets available at the door for $15 for adults and $13 for children and seniors.
Written by Robert Harling, Steel Magnolias is a heartwarming and humorous Southern classic set in a small-town Louisiana beauty salon, where a tight-knit group of women share life’s joys, heartbreaks, and everything in between. The story explores themes of friendship, resilience, love, and loss, blending sharp wit with deeply emotional moments. Since its debut in 1987, the play has become a favorite for community theatres nationwide and was later adapted into the popular 1989 film starring Sally Field, Dolly Parton, Julia Roberts, and Shirley MacLaine.
The production is hosted by the Raintree Arts Council, a nonprofit organization serving Pike and Lincoln Counties in northeast Missouri. Founded in 1979, the council supports theatre, music, visual arts, and educational programming throughout the region. The Apple Shed in Clarksville serves as its cultural arts center, hosting concerts, theatrical productions, and community events year-round.
Organizers say the upcoming performances offer audiences an opportunity to experience live theatre close to home while supporting local arts programming in the Two Rivers region.
