BOWLING GREEN, MISSOURI — Two suspects are in custody following a burglary attempt at a firearms business and a related stolen vehicle investigation in Bowling Green.
According to Bowling Green Police Chief Chris Beard, officers were dispatched March 15 to D&G Firearms after a burglary alarm was triggered. When officers arrived, they found a broken window at the business, indicating an attempted break-in.
While officers were investigating the scene, they were notified that a vehicle had been stolen nearby, prompting a coordinated search of the area involving both the Bowling Green Police Department and the Pike County Sheriff’s Office.
During the canvass, a deputy with the Pike County Sheriff’s Office located a subject matching the suspect description and took that individual into custody. Authorities say a firearm was found on the suspect during a pat-down.
A short time later, officers also located the stolen vehicle. Chief Beard then deployed K9 Moose, who conducted a track that led directly to a residence connected to a second suspect.
Officers took the second suspect into custody at the residence, where they reportedly found a handgun and the keys to the stolen vehicle still in the suspect’s pocket.
Authorities say the adult suspect is currently being held at the Pike County Jail on seven felony charges with no bond, while a juvenile suspect was released to a guardian.
Chief Beard praised the coordinated response between agencies, calling the teamwork between the Bowling Green Police Department and the Pike County Sheriff’s Office instrumental in quickly resolving what was described as a complex incident within a matter of hours.
