PITTSFIELD — A West Central Illinois man with a history of missed court appearances and multiple felony cases has been sentenced to state prison following proceedings in Pike County Circuit Court.

Forty-year-old Jonathan Well, formerly of Jacksonville, was sentenced Tuesday to two and a half years in the Illinois Department of Corrections by Pike County Judge Frank McCartney. The sentence follows a series of felony convictions and repeated failures to appear in court.

Well’s legal troubles date back to a May 2023 traffic stop by the Pike County Sheriff’s Department near Pearl. During the stop, deputies discovered Well was wanted on outstanding warrants from Scott, Morgan, and Montgomery counties. He was taken into custody and charged with driving on a revoked license, unlawful possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, along with multiple traffic offenses.

A subsequent search warrant executed at a residence along Illinois Route 100 in Pearl led to the seizure of several firearms — including stolen weapons — along with ammunition and methamphetamine.

Court records show Well pleaded guilty in October of last year in Pike County to felony drug possession and felony driving on a revoked license, marking at least his fourth conviction for driving while revoked. He later failed to appear for sentencing, prompting the issuance of a failure-to-appear warrant.

Well was re-arrested in Greene County in November and has been held at the Greene County Jail since that time.

In addition to the Pike County case, Well continues to face unresolved traffic and misdemeanor cases in Morgan, Greene, Scott, and Montgomery counties, according to court records.
