PIKE COUNTY — Pike County officials say road conditions remain hazardous as strong winds continue blowing snow back onto roads across the county.

In an 11 a.m. update Monday, the Pike County Highway Department reported that blowing snow and cold temperatures are continuing to create slick spots on roadways.

Officials say road crews have been working to keep roads clear, but high winds are pushing snow back across many routes, creating difficult travel conditions in some areas.

Drivers are being urged to use caution when traveling, especially on rural roads where drifting snow can quickly cover treated pavement.

County officials say they expect road crews will continue dealing with the conditions into Tuesday morning as temperatures remain low and winds continue to move snow across roadways.

Motorists are encouraged to slow down and allow extra travel time if they must be on the roads.
