PITTSFIELD — A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for portions of southwest and west central Illinois along with central, east central and northeast Missouri as wet snow is expected to move into the region this evening.
The advisory is in effect from 6 p.m. this evening through 6 a.m. Monday. Forecasters say total snow accumulations up to one inch are expected across much of the area, with a localized band of 2 to 4 inches possible in some locations.
Road conditions could become slippery overnight and into early Monday morning, particularly on bridges and overpasses. The hazardous conditions are expected to impact the Monday morning commute across parts of the Twin Pikes region and surrounding communities.
Motorists are urged to slow down and use caution while traveling. Drivers should allow extra time to reach their destinations and remain alert for rapidly changing road conditions as precipitation transitions and temperatures fluctuate.
Residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts as conditions develop across west central Illinois and northeast Missouri.
